Healthy Green Smoothie
Smoothies are a part of my everyday health routine. Whether it’s for breakfast or for an after workout snack that’s packed with protein. I can guarantee you, smoothies are on the agenda.
They are a great quick and easy way to pack your body with the right nutrients, boost energy and boost metabolism. Today’s smoothie is one of my favorite. This Green Smoothie might be vibrant in color but it tastes like the tropics with all the pineapple, banana and berries.
It’s high in protein, fiber, vitamin a, vitamin c and folate. Because it’s a the boost your body has been waiting for!
What you’ll need for this Green Smoothie
This smoothie has all your heavy smoothie hitters with a few fun tropical surprises. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Pineapple – If you’re making something tropical, you definitely need to have pineapple in it.
- Strawberry – For a berry twist
- Banana – I like to use fresh banana because I don’t like my smoothies too cold. I know I’m weird. But if you like a thicker smoothie you can definitely use frozen banana.
- Spinach – I use fresh baby spinach
- Milk – Honestly, any liquid would work here. I like to use plain unsweetened almond milk because I try to keep it dairy free. You could also use regular milk, coconut milk, soy milk or oat milk.
- Protein Powder – I like to use plant based protein powder, Vega Brand is my go to. But by all means, use your favorite brand.
- Water – I like to cut some of the sugar and carbs that almond milk has but supplementing it with water. Gives you the liquid you need without the calories.
What to put in a green smoothie?
Most green smoothies have about a cup of frozen fruit with a handful of fresh spinach or kale for some antioxidants. Some green smoothies have fresh vegetables if you’re ok with the flavor – I’ve add cucumber or celery before.

How to make a Tropical Green Smoothie?
You can’t get easier than this folks. Pour, Blend, Slurp. Here’s how to make this green smoothie recipe:
- Blend: To a blender add fresh spinach, frozen pineapple, frozen strawberries, banana, almond milk, water and protein powder to the blender. Blend until smoothie and creamy.
Tips & Tricks for the Best Green Smoothie
- For a Thick Smoothie – If you like your smoothie thick, I recommend using all frozen fruit. You could even portion out some almond milk, freeze it and add your almond milk in frozen form.
- Add in Some Fat – This smoothie is high in carbs and protein but adding in some fat from a tablespoon of almond butter, 1/4 avocado, avocado oil or even some chia seeds is a great idea.
- Keep the Sugar Low – Fruits are already high in sugar so you definitely don’t need to add more sugar to the smoothie. Trust me. It’s the perfect level of sweet. So put that sweetened almond milk, honey or agave down. You don’t need it.
- Meal Prep It – You can easily meal prep this smoothie. Just add the frozen fruit and spinach to a freezer safe bag and place in the freezer. Smoothie bags will keep up to 3 months. When ready to use just empty contents of the bag into a blender, add protein powder, liquid and blend.
Can you taste the spinach in the smoothie?
Nope! You can’t taste the greens in this smoothie. That’s the best part! All you’ll taste is the yummy pinapple, banana and strawberries. So it’s definitely a winner on the kid front.
