Yogurt Breakfast Bowl Recipe
So … yogurt in the morning … I’m kinda obsessed with the stuff. And so is my son, every morning both of us have a bowl of yogurt, fruit and granola.
Like mother like son. 🙂
I have tried a bunch of different yogurts and depending on what I’m using it for I know which brand to pick.
If I’m eating a yogurt parfait, I like to go with either Noosa (extremely creamy, the perfect yogurt texture, and if you get the vanilla there are flecks of vanilla bean) or Siggis (has live cultures in it, meaning it is high in probiotics – good for gut health).
If I’m baking and using the yogurt as a way to moisten up the bread I use Stonyfield, it is organic super creamy and cheaper than Siggis or Noosa. 🙂
And lastly, if I’m using it in my cooking or in a dressing I use Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt. It’s about the same price as Stonyfield and thick, which usually makes a good sauce or dressing.
Ok, so that’s my run down of yogurt brands. Now onto Cason and I’s breakfast of choice! Yogurt with fruit and granola.
Typically I’m a fresh berry kinda girl. But after the Blood Orange Bread I made last week I am officially addicted to blood oranges. It may make your kitchen look like a massacre just happened with the bright red juice .. but it’s sooo worth it!
Why This is The Best Breakfast Recipe
The fresh citrus flavor and slightly sweet juice of the blood orange is incredible and goes so well with this yogurt, but complimented with the tart blueberries makes this dish pop with flavor!
I like to have just a little bit of crunch in almost every dish I make. Varying flavors and textures is what makes a dish shine to me, so adding granola to this was a must!
This is my all time favorite homemade granola. It is extremely easy to make, has just the right amount of sweetness, and the warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg just warm your tummy up and make it so comforting. LOVE this granola! (on a side note the recipe calls for almonds but I sometimes like to use pecan to change up the nuts)
Oh, plus it makes your house smell amazing while it’s baking! That should be reason enough to make it!
If you’re looking for a way to lighten up your breakfast in the morning while still getting the nutrients you need and a nice amount of protein this is the dish for you! And if you’re up for it and some crazy Martha Stewart lady in the kitchen, give a shot at making your OWN Homemade Yogurt!
The flavor is amazing and it’s incredibly easy to make!
Bon Appetit my friends and happy Hump Day.
