Why Smooth Bowls are my Favorite
Ahhhh … deep sigh of relief!
I cannot even describe to you how excited I am to get out of the holiday season recipes filled with comfort foods and desserts. Back to my normal routine of healthy family meals, post work out snacks, and breakfast recipes. Whew! For whatever reason it is harder for me to come up with those recipes, now I’m back in “my jam” and ohhh so happy!
On a personal level I’m excited that it is January! A Fresh Slate. Newness. New Goals. New Travels. New Adventures. New Memories! And a New Planner. (hehe)
I’ll be even more excited when I’m back home and can get back to my workout routine. The past few months I’ve felt like a big blob. I was use to working out 4-5 times a week. But when we started the IVF process in November, everything had to stop. And I mean everything. Then December hit, sickness reared it’s ugly head, travels began, and workouts still didn’t happen. Perfect timing to not workout, right? Right around the holidays when holiday treats are around every corner. I think I had one week in December where I worked out 3 times. Woohoo.
I honestly feel like I’m getting a little belly. Even though, it’s probably not true. But when you work out, those feelings just go away. Ya know? So back to the gym and regular healthy meals for me! And I honestly couldn’t be more excited. I haven’t felt like myself the past two months! Yeah for January!
And on that note! Our first recipe of the NEW year is this Banana Berry Smoothie Bowl.
Guys. Have you tried Smoothie Bowls before?
I have to admit. I was a Smoothie Bowl virgin before this. I mean the idea of pouring a smoothie into a bowl and eating it like soup instead of just drinking it? You gotta admit, kinda weird right?
And I felt weird after the first bite, but you guys it’s so good. And as a texture person I appreciated that there were different bites and flavors in my smoothie. It’s kinda like eating cold soup, or a fruit gazpacho. De-licious!
Plus, it’s a great way to sneak in a handful of spinach or kale .. some protein powder and whatever else you can throw in there without realizing it.
This Smoothie Bowl is dairy free AND refined sugar free! The only sugar in here is natural from the fruit! Top the bowl with whatever you fancy or whatever you have on hand!
This Banana Berry Smoothie Bowl is a quick easy AND delicious breakfast recipe. The perfect way to start off your day and load your body with the nutrients it needs to get your metabolism kick started! Plus it’s only 5 ingredients! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Bon Appetit friends and Happy January!

Thanks for the nice smoothie recipe. It’s really so simple. I’m a big fan of all 3 kinds of berries in my smoothie. Just saved it 🙂
When you’ve eaten all those high-calorie foods during the holidays, it is time to shift to fruits like banana and berries. This smoothie is actually a great idea, not to mention healthy. These fruits aren’t hard to find at all as they are readily available in the grocery. I’m gonna try this out soon. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

I’m excited for the new year too and looking forward to eating a little better than I did in December. This smoothie bowl is beautiful, a great way to start the year!
This is so gorgeous! What a great way to start the New Year!
I’ve never tried a smoothie bowl before, but I’m totally down for this. You can’t go wrong with a smoothie to start the day, and the fact that this calls for SO MUCH GOODNESS just makes me so happy. Here’s to a healthy, happy 2017.
This is exactly what January is calling for! Even I’m sick of sweets. Looking forward to vegetables, healthy recipes and getting back on track and this smoothie bowl is a great starting point!
I’ve substituted half the milk for nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Deliciously tangy.
Yummy! I love how flexible this recipe is! 🙂 Glad you liked it Ellen!
