Healthier cake texture Baked Apple Donuts with fresh ginger and spicy cardamom topped with a homemade Cardamom Cream Cheese Glaze, the ultimate fall donut recipe!

Baked Apple Donuts:
- 2 cups of white whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon of fresh grated ginger
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil, melted
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of granny smith apples, peeled & diced (about 1 large apple)
Cardamom Cream Cheese Glaze:
- 4 oz. of cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnaon, cardamom, and fresh ginger.
- Add in milk, eggs, coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Toss till everything is combined.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Spray donut tin with PAM.
- Fill donut tins 1/2-3/4 of the way full.
- Bake for 10-14 minutes.
- Remove from pan and let cool on cooling rack.
- In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, maple syrup, and cardamom using a hand mixer. Combine until smooth.
- Top donuts with cream cheese mixture.
- Serve! {preferably with coffee… :)}
