Ingredients
Spiced Cranberry Syrup:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 1 whole star anise
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
Spiced Cranberry Whiskey Sour:
- 2 oz. your favorite bourbon or whiskey
- 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz. Spiced Cranberry Syrup
- 1/2 oz cranberry juice
- 1–2 dashed orange bitters
- 1–2 teaspoons egg whites
Optional Garnish: fresh cranberries, rosemary sprigs and fresh orange slices
Instructions
Spiced Cranberry Syrup:
- To a small saucepan, add water, sugar, fresh cranberries, cinnamon, star anise and orange zest.
- Give it a quick stir. Bring mixture to a slow boil over medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring throughout. Do not let the cranberries burst, as this release pectin and will make your sauce more gelatinous.Â
- Pour mixture through a strainer into a glass jar and refrigerator for 5-10 minutes.Â
Spiced Cranberry Whiskey Sour:
- To a cocktail shaker, add ice, whiskey, lemon juice, spiced cranberry syrup, cranberry juice, orange bitters and egg white.Â
- Secure the top and shake vigorously until the cocktail shaker is frosty on the outside.Â
- Pour through a cocktail strainer into a coupe class.Â
- Top with fresh cranberries, rosemary sprig and orange slice.
